The Gift of Hope in Unspoken Grief
There are times when we carry a deep grief, hurt, or pain that we simply cannot speak about. It can feel as though we are walking alone in the fog, with just enough vision to see only one step ahead. It can feel so lonely, heavy, and scary. As a therapist, I am incredibly grateful for the beautiful privilege of holding these moments with you in absolute confidence. While it can be heartbreaking to carry these burdens in silence, please know it is a sacred trust that I cherish. Whether it is a friend's secret, a personal diagnosis you aren't ready to share, or a deep hurt from a loved one, this silent pain can feel so heavy—like a gentle squeeze in the chest or a quiet tear.
This form of grief can feel challenging because our hearts naturally long for connection, empathy, and comfort from those around us. When pain feels trapped inside, please know that it is completely okay to grieve in quiet solitude until you feel ready and free to share it.
During these tender times, practicing gentle self-care is so important for us. We can start by warmly validating that our feelings are completely real and meaningful. Let's remember to care for our bodies, allowing them to release tension through restful moments rather than busyness. We can also practice healthy mental boundaries to keep our thoughts peaceful, while turning to the One who knows our entire journey to gently share our sorrow.
To anyone currently carrying a silent grief, please receive this warm embrace of encouragement. You are not alone, and your strength is beautiful. This heavy season is temporary, and we are deeply loved and securely held in the palm of His hand.
Keeping all of us in my thoughts and prayers as we journey through healing together.
Warmly,
Leslie
